HAIR TRIAL
Will we do a trial run before the wedding?
Yes! After you sign your contract, we’ll schedule your style trial where we'll work together in advance of your wedding to figure out the perfect hair for you, your weather, your location, and your dress. We’ll do a trial run of the style so you’ll feel confident about the look.
Pro tip: consider scheduling your Hair Design Appointment on the same day as your engagement photos so you’ll have professionally styled hair!
Who can book a hair trial appointment? Is it bride only or wedding party too?
Trial appointments are available for the bride only after the wedding is booked and on my schedule.
Mothers of the bride and wedding party are not eligible for a hair trial due to time constraints.
Can I book a trial before I hire you?
I am unable to provide a trial before your booking. I have many reviews on Wedding Wire & The Knot and a full portfolio to give you a feel for my abilities and approach to wedding hair.
How should I prepare for my hair trial?

SCHEDULING & AVAILABILITY
How far in advance do you book?
I’m currently booking 12-16 months out for Saturdays from May to October. Saturdays are prime dates and go fast!
Friday, Sunday, and Weekday weddings average booking 8-12 months out and are becoming more popular all the time so don’t delay, inquire now!
Do you keep a waitlist for booked dates in case of cancellation?
I do not keep a running waitlist. Most of the time when a wedding cancels it is on short notice. The only way to ensure my availability on your date is to book early. However, if we’re not available on your date, we can follow up with referral options.

We’re getting married outside. Can you ensure my style can withstand wind and other elements?
At your hair trial, we’ll get into all the details about your location and the projected weather so we can create a plan for a long-lasting style on your wedding day. If you're wearing your hair up, we’ll make sure it can withstand strong breezes. If you're looking for some flowing curls, we’ll make sure they will last late into the evening. Whatever style you choose, we’ll make it last.
How will you ensure we stay on schedule on our wedding day?
Typically I’m in touch with your planner (if you have one) and photographer to make sure we’re coordinated and on schedule. There are a lot of moving parts during a wedding so we work hard together to keep you on track.
What size wedding party can you style?
We can plan for as many people as will fit in the contracted time. I find most brides don't want to get ready for longer than 5 hours. Individually that’s an average of 9-10 people for me, if there are more heads than that we can talk about adding a second stylist. That said, finding a second stylist isn’t always possible so the more lead time the better to assure we can create your ideal getting ready experience.
Do you offer makeup services as well?
I’m able to provide makeup for wedding parties for 4 people total or less. More than that would require an additional MUA to come with me. I do also work with many wonderful makeup artists that I am happy to refer.

Lena is the best!
I hired Lena based on a recommendation from our photographer for the bride and bridal party hair for my wedding in Harpswell, ME. Lena was absolutely amazing to work with - at my trial, she was honest and upfront about what we could do or should consider for my specific hair type and for our wedding day (early July). I was torn between wanting to wear my hair down vs. up and even though we settled on an updo at my trial, Lena stayed flexible and reassured me that we could wait and see until the wedding day and make a decision then. Unfortunately, Tropical Storm Elsa showed up on our wedding day and so we made the decision that an updo was the best choice. Lena took her time, made sure that I loved it, and struck the perfect balance between natural and loose without looking too messy. Even with torrential downpour and crazy wind, my hair stayed in place and looked great all night, and am so glad in the end that I didn't wear it down. She also did hair for my mom, mother-in-law, and two bridesmaids/sisters - all of whom absolutely loved their hair (and her in general). 10/10 would hire her again in a heartbeat! - Jackie
